Be part of a national festival!

Sharing stories, celebrating communities and bringing people together is at the heart of the festival. Around 200 organisers from organisations, businesses and voluntary groups take part in Norfolk HODs each year, giving their time and expertise to showcase the very best of the county’s rich history to local visitors and those from further afield.

It's completely free for organisations and individuals to take part in Heritage Open Days -  there's no cost to register or participate. The festival is completely flexible, so you can run your event over as many or as few days as you like.

In return, taking part in the festival can offer a range of opportunities your organisation can benefit from including:

  • reaching new and diverse audiences

  • securing donations

  • a gateway to the heritage sector to encourage future visits

  • national, regional and local PR as part of a nationwide festival

  • meeting and inspiring potential future volunteers

  • connecting with other local organisations and communities

This year's theme is Architecture, but your event can explore anything to do with heritage and history: from the ancient to the contemporary.

HODs 2025 will run from Friday 12–Sunday 21 September.

Each year we evaluate the impact the festival has had on the region, review organiser and visitor feedback, digital stats and more.

We love HODs, it is our biggest source of donations.
