The 2024 festival ran from 6-15 September, with 308 events taking place throughout Norfolk. Once again, Norwich had the largest programme of any city in the country. The theme for HODs 2024 was Routes, Networks, Connections.
"We are so lucky to have HODs. There are so many choices, plus the volunteers are always so welcoming & enthusiastic. I’ve been going to them for many years now & it’s always been a fun & fascinating experience."
In 2024, we worked with RSPCA Norwich to celebrate their 60th anniversary, which coincided with the 200th anniversary of their parent charity, the National RSPCA. This special exhibition celebrated the history of the charity, and their future plans, showcasing the impact of their work past and present.
The exhibition included memories from local people, stories from both of the World Wars, and archive clips from historic films, as well as information about the RSPCA's work today, from rescuing wildlife to rehoming and providing veterinary care to cats, dogs, rabbits, reptiles, birds and fish.
Alongside the hundreds of events taking place across Norfolk, we curated a series of talks talking place in The Forum Auditorium. These talks invited everybody to learn more about Norwich, on subjects as diverse as our parks, the origins of The Jenny Lind Children's Hospital, and the pioneering brand identities developed right here in Norwich.
The heart of Norfolk Heritage Open Days is the people who organise, volunteer and take part in the Festival. This collaboration makes heritage accessible to the whole community, bringing the stories of our county to life. We'd like to thank everybody who got involved in Norfolk HODs 2024 - we can't wait for 2025!
